Butler women's basketball player RaVon Nero and football's Eric Scott have been selected as the Butler Athletes of the Week, presented by White Eagle Credit Union.

RaVon Nero, Women's Basketball

RaVon Nero, sophomore guard from Edmond, OK, helped the Grizzlies to a 1-1 record in the opening weekend tournament hosted by State Fair. Nero posted a double-double in the 67-59 loss to the Div. II No. 2 ranked Kirkwood Eagles. She finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes of play. Nero only played 20 minutes in Saturday’s win over host State Fair but contributed to the win with 10 points and eight rebounds. She also had four steals and two assists in the Grizzlies 91-65 win.

Eric Scott, Football

Eric Scott, freshman defensive back form Basehor, Kansas, set a new school record with his 100-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Grizzlies 23-13 loss on the road at Iowa Western. Scott recorded two tackles on the day with a pass breakup and the interception. Scott broke the 19-year-old school record for longest interception return that was set by James Cody on September 23, 2000 versus Hutchinson when he returned one for 97-yards for the score.
