The Jacobs Family Fund for Athletic Excellence was established in 2010 with an initial gift of $15,000 from the Matt and Marilyn Jacobs family. It is intended to be a lasting lifeline of financial support
It is a challenge gift, with the intent to have other donors combine to match the initial contribution. Thanks to the generosity of additional donors, the fund's principal balance is currently $38,000!
It is an endowed fund, which means the principle is never spent - only the interest earned is. This allows the fund to live in perpetuity, forever helping meet the growing financial needs of sustaining a nationally-competitive athletics department.
