Matt is in his third year as the Athletic Academic Coordinator at Butler. Most recently, he was the Athletic Academic Coordinator at De Anza College, Cupertino, Ca. where he was an advisor for 400+ student-athletes.  Matt assisted the student athletes in achieving their academic goals including earning their Associate degrees and transferring on to four-year universities. 

During his time at De Anza, Matt was awarded the President’s Award for Outstanding Service (2002).  He also received the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) Athletic Academic Counselor of the Year award (2018). Matt has actively been involved in a number of professional organizations including:  N4A National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals and 3C4A California Community College Athletic Academic Advising Association. 

He Graduated from the University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA) 1989 with a degree in Math.  He has his master’s in Athletic Administration from Concordia University – Irvine 2018.

In his spare time, Matt has been a high school football referee on and off since 2003.

Matt and his wife Michele currently live in Wichita.
