Parker spent nine years leading the Butler baseball program, guiding the program to its first appearance in the NJCAA World Series in 1994, where the team finished third in the nation. He compiled a record of 355-161 (.688), including five 40-plus win seasons. His Butler teams captured four Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference championships and were runners-up the other five years, along with capturing three Region VI titles and one Central District crown.

For his efforts, Parker earned Western Division Coach of the Year honors four times at BCCC (1991, 1992, 1994, 1997), Region VI top coaching honors three times (1991, 1992, 1994) and was the District’s top mentor in 1994. Parker’s other administrative duties while at BCCC included sports information director, assistant to the athletic director and serving as interim director of athletics for four months during the summer of 1998.

Other Parker accolades include coaching five Junior College All-Americans and 16 academic All-America selections. Five of his former players have reached the major leagues including former Grizzly Ryan Kohlmeier (Orioles, White Sox).

Parker has 28 former players or assistant coaches who have gone on and currently hold a coaching position in baseball. While coaching at Butler, Parker also has worked for five years in the scouting department for the Montreal Expos.

A 1982 graduate of Tabor College (Hillsboro, Kan.), Parker played both baseball and basketball and was a two-time team captain and all-conference shortstop. Both his basketball and baseball teams won conference titles his senior season.

Parker and wife, Joyce, have three sons: Beau, Baylor and Levi.
