Northern Oklahoma-Enid hit four home runs, outpacing Butler 7-3 in a non-conference game on Wednesday at McDonald Stadium.
Butler got a home run of its own from Hunter Aguirre, but it wasn't enough to help Butler keep pace with the long balls hit by the Jets in the nine-inning contest.
Butler ace Corbin Osburn threw two scoreless innings to start the game before allowing a two-run home run to Justin Brown in the top of the third as Northern Oklahoma took a 2-0 lead. Northern added a solo shot from Braden Rogers in the top of the fourth for a 3-0 lead.
Butler got one run back in the bottom half of the fourth when Hunter Aguirre doubled to right-center and scored on a single up the middle by Bryant Klusener.
Northern Oklahoma got three more runs in the top of the fifth, including a two-run home run by Carlos Andujar, to lead 6-1.
Hunter Aguirre hit his home run in the bottom of the sixth, and Butler added its third run when Cory Slater doubled to drive in Bryant Klusener, making it 6-3.
Northern's fourth home run came off the bat of Anthony Alvarez in the top of the seventh.
Butler had a chance to cut into the deficit in the bottom of the seventh, as the Grizzlies got a pair of singles from Alex Forge't and Javis Larson, then Hunter Aguirre was hit by a pitch with two outs. Bryant Klusener grounded out to end the inning.
Travis Hennessy threw two scoreless innings and Butler put two runners on with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, but Javis Larson grounded into a double play and Channing Williams grounded out to end the game.
Corbin Osburn took the loss for the Grizzlies, evening his record at 2-2 on the season. Northern Oklahoma starter Ryan LeMoine is now 4-0 on the season.
Butler, which has lost three straight after winning eight straight, is now 8-5 on the season. The Grizzlies play on Saturday and Sunday at Longview College in Kansas City, Mo.
