Butler takes three out of four over Bears with double header sweep Saturday

The Butler Grizzlies swept a double header with the Des Moines Area Bears on Saturday, giving the Grizzlies a series win with a 7-6 victory in game one and a 9-4 game two victory taking three out of four.

Game One

The Grizzlies needed a comeback to get the win in the first game after falling behind 3-0, and they got one, courtesy of a Cooper Torres' bases-clearing three RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. The Grizzlies scored three in the fifth and three again in the sixth to grab the lead. Butler scored seven runs on 11 hits, led by Paul Schoenfield's three hits, including a home run to right-center field in the bottom of the fifth.

Andrew Wisner was, again, a dominant closer, earning his fourth save of the season. Tyler Leachner pitched only two thirds of an inning but got the win, his second of the season.

Game Two

The Grizzlies broke open a 5-4 game with a four run inning in the fourth to secure a game two victory. Cooper Torres kept his momentum going from game one with a two run blast in the bottom of the second, and Josh Holmes tripled and earned a sacrifice fly to help the Grizzlies to the win.

Butler got a strong start from Corbin Talley, who earned his first victory of the season, striking out five. Dylan Rinker gave the Grizzlies three innings of shutout baseball to secure the win, striking out four batters.

Butler won three of the four games this weekend and improve their record to 9-5 on the year. The Grizzlies end their homestand this week, playing one game against Northern Oklahoma Enid, before traveling to Hutchinson for two games towards the end of the week.
