Grizzlies pick up midweek win over NOC-Enid

The Butler Grizzlies bounced back from a weekend doubleheader sweep, as they held off Northern Oklahoma College-Enid, 9-8, in a one game showdown at McDonald Stadium on Tuesday.

The Grizzlies scored nine runs on eight hits. Paul Schoenfeld opened the scoring with a homer to right field, his seventh of the season. The Grizzlies overturned a 3-1 deficit in the fourth inning with a two RBI double from Cooper Torres. The Grizzlies took the lead with a three run fourth inning that they would never relinquish.

Jake Shaults got the win, his first of the year. He pitched two innings and gave up two runs on two hits. The Grizzlies used five pitchers on the mound and combined for 11 strikeouts. Andrew Wisner got the save, his seventh of the year, as he preserved a one run lead by striking out the side in the ninth inning.

With the victory, Butler improves to 18-13, including 10-5 at home. The Grizzlies will return to conference play with four games at McDonald Stadium against Colby, with Colby designated as the home team for the first two games on Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for 2:00pm. The final two games of the series will be played on Sunday in El Dorado with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00pm.
