Grizzlies split Sunday to finish series 2-2 with Trojans

The Butler Grizzlies split a doubleheader with the Colby Trojans at McDonald Stadium on Sunday, evening the series at two games apiece. The Grizzlies won the first game 4-3 in seven innings before dropping the second, 13-7.

Game One

The Grizzlies got a strong performance from Izack Tiger on the mound, as he picked up his fifth win of the season. Tiger pitched six innings, striking out six and allowing just three runs on five hits, shutting out the Trojans until the seventh inning. Andrew Wisner earned his eighth save in dominant fashion, striking out the side to cement the victory. 

The Grizzlies scored four runs on seven hits in the win, and Sam Siegel, Paul Schoenfeld and Zach Stroh earned the RBIs. 

Game Two

The Trojans offense woke up in game one, and they were able to power their way to the victory. Colby opened the game with a first inning grand slam, and they never relinquished the lead. 

Cooper Torres earned the only home run of the day, a two run shot to center field in the seventh inning. 

The Grizzlies' record with the series split will drop to 21-15 on the year, and 10-10 in conference play. They will go on the road for a one game showdown with Coffeyville before returning home on Thursday for two games against Pratt.
