Butler sweeps Beavers at home winning two by run-rule

The Butler Grizzlies dominated a doubleheader against the Pratt Beavers at McDonalds Stadium on Thursday, winning game one of the series, 15-5 before sealing the sweep with a 12-2 victory, both in run rule fashion. 

Game One

The Grizzlies jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, led by Cache Stone's triple, before cementing the win with six runs in the fifth inning. Stone finished with four RBIs in the game, hitting a two run home run in the fourth inning. Zack Brink and Hayden Dyer also homered in the game. Butler finished game one with15 runs on 15 hits.

Braxton Hyde pitched his second straight complete game, earning his third win of the season, striking out seven batters and allowing only six hits in the victory.

Game Two

Josh Holmes hit two homers in the second game of the day as Butler cruised to a run rule victory. Hayden Dyer hit the other home run in the game, a two run home run in the bottom of third. Tanner Leslie hit a triple and a single, finishing with two RBIs.

Zack Brink picked up his first victory of the season, pitching five innings, allowing just one run on three hits, striking out six batters.

The doubleheader sweep improves the Grizzlies' record to 23-16, and 12-10 in conference play. Butler will earn at least a split in the series and they'll head to Pratt to look for a series sweep against the Beavers.
