Guevara powers Butler past Panthers in midweek matchup

The Butler Grizzlies won a non conference game against Neosho, 14-9, at McDonald Stadium on Tuesday, to extend their winning streak to five games in a win that was shortened to eight innings due to lightning.

Brock Lumnus hit two solo home runs in the victory, two of five home runs that Grizzly batters would hit in the victory. Hayden Dyer, Zack Brink, and Francisco Guevara would also go yard in the victor as the Grizzlies came back from a five run deficit to seal the win, powered by back to back home runs by Lummus and Guevara that powered a nine run fourth inning to cement the win. Butler finished with 14 runs on 20 hits in the victory with Guevara starring going 4 for 4 just missing the cycle as he hit two doubles, a triple and a homerun.

Gavin Peterson claimed the victory, his second of the season, pitching four innings and allowing five runs on five hits, striking out three Neosho batters in the win.

Butler improves to 26-16 with the victory, and they'll look to extend their longest winning streak of the season with two games at Dodge City on Thursday before returning home for a doubleheader against the Conquistadors on Saturday at McDonald Stadium.
