Baseball season comes to a close in 5-3 loss in elimination game to Hutchinson in Region VI Tournament

The Butler Grizzlies saw their season end in Manhattan on Thursday, losing in the elimination bracket of the Plains District tournament to the Hutchinson Blue Dragons, 5-3 at Tointon Family Stadium on the campus of Kansas State University.

The Grizzlies season ends at 35-24, and 20-12 in conference play.

Josh Holmes put up a heroic effort in defeat, with a multi home run game, both solo efforts. He was accountable for two of Butler's three runs, as the Grizzlies put together only eight hits and left eight runners stranded. Cache Stone knocked in the other run, a single that put the Grizzlies on the board in the third inning.

Corbin Talley pitched well, but ultimately was tasked with the loss, as he finished with a 5-3 record. Talley pitched five innings, allowing just three runs on four hits, striking out six batters. Talley, Tanner Leslie, and Zach Brink totaled 10 punchouts compared to six walks in the nine innings of work.
