Offensive Attack Helps Butler Past Rose State

EL DORADO, Kan. – No head coach, no matter for the Grizzly baseball squad.
Playing without head coach Ty Reese who was serving a one game suspension after being ejected in Butler's win over Cowley on Saturday, the Grizzlies (19-14) handled Rose State (14-18), 13-3, in eight innings at McDonald Stadium on Tuesday.
Butler used 16 hits to reach 13 runs in the game. It's the 10th game this season that Butler has scored 10 or more and they are 9-1 in those games.
Butler led 5-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth and exploded for six runs in the frame to take an 11-2 win that essentially sealed the game.
Rose State walked Butler nine times and struck them out only seven.
Jaron Brown, Taber Stokes, Anibal Rivera, Justin Hudson, Charlie Marcantel, Cole Murrell and Brock Toothaker all had multi-hit games with Murrell leading the charge with three hits and three RBI. Hudson and Marcantel also drove in three runs each.
Caden Hinther (W, 1-2) earned the win as he started and threw 3.0 scoreless innings. Kamden Phillips finished with a team-high three strikeouts.
Rose State used five pitchers with all but Kenny Fabian allowing at least a run. Starter Jacob Hogan (L, 1-6) was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs (two earned) in 3.1 innings, walking four and striking out two.
Butler returns to conference play on Thursday at home as the Colby Trojans travel to El Dorado for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
