Coach Gus Strunk enters his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Grizzly baseball team. He works primarily with the infielders and assisting with hitters while also coaching third base.

Strunk started his collegiate playing career at Butler in 2012. He was a two-year starter for the Grizzlies playing mainly short stop but bounced around the middle infield. He also recorded innings pitching for the Grizzlies. After Butler, Strunk transferred to Fort Hays State University where he started his junior and senior seasons at second-base. He earned Honorable Mention All-MIAA his senior season.

Strunk started his coaching career with the Denver Cougars, in Denver, Colorado. That season, the Denver Cougars won their conference and made a trip to the NBC World Series. Strunk also coached the El Dorado Broncos, which also made an appearance in the NBC World Series. In 2017 & 2018, Strunk started the Mulvane Patriots, who won the Sunflower Collegiate League in 2017 and finished 5th in the NBC World Series.
