The Butler Spirit Squad consists of up to 18 members (male and female). Squad members must be full-time Butler students who have graduated from high school, and must meet NJCAA and KJCCC eligibility requirements.


OPEN GYM DATES:

Though not mandatory, candidates may attend the following optional open gyms: 

March 17, 2024 | 2-4 PM 

April 7, 2024 | 2-4 PM

April 14, 2024 | 2-4 PM

 

All open gyms are from 2:00-4:00 PM in the Champions Training Center on our El Dorado campus.

The purpose of open gym is to allow candidates insight into the program as well as daily practice routines. They will also be allowed to showcase and work on their jumps, tumbling and stunting skills. Release forms are necessary and are available for download on our webpage below.  Open gym attendance is not required. Open gyms are open to the public. Scholarships may be awarded prior to tryouts.


TRYOUTS:

Tryouts for the 2024-25 team will be conducted as follows: 

April 19, 2024 | 6-9 PM | Champions Training Center

April 20, 2024 | 9 AM-Noon | Champions Training Center

Tryout material will be taught during these clinics and participants will demonstrate their ability to learn choreographed material as well as technical skills. Tryout clinics are held at the Champions Training Center on the El Dorado campus and are CLOSED to parents, friends and spectators. 

Day one of tryouts will include performing learned material (chant and short dance), jumps, your two best partner stunts, and tumbling.  Although part of the tryout, tumbling is not required to make the team. Day two of tryouts will include group pyramid work and a personal interview.


A mascot position is also available.  If you have interest in that position, please complete the tryout application stating it is for the mascot position. 

Paperwork

In order to participate in open gyms, clinics and tryouts, candidates MUST fill-out a release form. If the candidate is UNDER 18 they MUST have a parent sign the release before they may practice. Scholarships

All members of the team receive an in-state books and tuition scholarship.  This scholarship does not cover student fees, housing or meals.  All uniforms, warm-ups, practice clothes, shoes, etc. are provided at no cost to you.
