For the second time this season, Butler rolled up more than 80 points in a game, this time in an 84-13 thrashing of No. 19-ranked Garden City.
Butler, ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA poll, has now scored 60 or more points in each of its five conference games. Butler has scored 84 against Garden City and Independence and 72 in the season opener against Dodge City. The Grizzlies are averaging 62.6 points per game for the season, while allowing just 8.9 points per game.
The Grizzlies got off to a quick start, with a one-yard touchdown run by Terrence Allen and a 35-yard run by Dreamius Smith to go ahead 14-0.
Garden City would get a pair of touchdowns sandwiched around a three-yard touchdown run by Derrick Thomas, making the score 21-13.
That put Butler up 42-13 at the half and the scoring continued early in the third quarter as the Grizzlies put up another 42 points in the second half. Javess Blue and Devin Clarke also had receiving touchdowns
Included in the scoring was a 30-yard interception return for a score by safety Tate Omli.
Dreamius Smith finished the night with 13 carries for 193 and three touchdowns. He leads the nation with 16 rushing touchdowns. Derrick Thomas had 11 carries for 92 yards with one touchdown rushing and another receiving.
