After a 20-10 victory over Garden City on Saturday, Butler football moved up one spot to 14th in this week's NJCAA Top 20 poll.
Butler (5-1 overall, 4-1 KJCCC) received 80.5 votes this week and is just one of two KJCCC teams ranked in the poll. Dodge City (5-1, 4-1), who the Grizzlies defeated 41-6 in the season opener, moved up two spots to 12th in the poll despite having a bye week. Butler and Dodge City are tied atop the KJCCC standings with a 4-1 record in conference play. However, Butler owns the tiebreaker having defeated the Conquistadors. Garden City (4-2, 2-2) went from 16th to being unranked after losing to Butler.
For the second straight week, Georgia Military (7-0) remained atop the gridirion poll, receiving 204.5 votes and six first-place votes. Despite both Jones County (Miss.) and East Mississippi both winning, Jones County (6-0) jumped EMCC in the poll into the No. 2 spot. It marked the second straight week that East Mississippi, who remains undefeated and was ranked No. 1 two weeks ago, has fallen in the polls. Rounding out the top five was Tyler (Texas) and Iowa Western.
Butler is off this week, but returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 with a road contest at Coffeyville (3-3 overall, 2-2 KJCCC). Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Ravens will play at Dodge City this Saturday before hosting the Grizzlies next week.
