Butler ranked 12th in NJCAA football poll

Despite having the week off, Butler football moved up two spots to 12th in this week's NJCAA Top 20 poll.

Butler (5-1 overall, 4-1 KJCCC) noved ahead of Nassau (N.Y.) and Itawamba (Miss.), after both teams lost this week. Nassau not only lost, but dropped out of the polls due to a stat-entry requirement violation. The Grizzlies received 90 votes this week, which is an increase of 9.5 votes.

The Grizzlies are one of three KJCCC teams ranked in this week's poll. Dodge City (6-1, 5-1) moved up just one spot from 12th to 11th and received 107 votes. Butler defeated Dodge 41-6 in the season opener. Dodge has a half-game lead over the Grizzlies for first place in the KJCCC standings. However, Butler owns the tiebreaker having defeated the Conquistadors. Hutchinson moved back into the rankings after a four-week hiatus. The Blue Dragons (5-2, 4-1) are ranked 19th and received 25 votes.

For the third straight week, Georgia Military (8-0) remained at the No. 1 spot, receiving 208 votes and six first-place votes. East Mississippi, Tyler (Texas) and Iowa Western all moved up one spot to 2-3-4, after previous No. 2 Jones County lost to unranked Hinds (Miss.) Copiah Lincoln (Miss.) moved into the top five, while Jones dropped to sixth.

Butler travels to Coffeyville (3-4, 2-2) this Saturday for a 7 p.m contest. Coffeyville is coming off a 33-27 loss at Dodge City.
