For the 12th consecutive season, the Butler football team is ranked in the preseason top 10 by the NJCAA.
This year, the Grizzlies crack the preseason poll at No. 6. That is the same spot in which the Grizzlies were ranked in the final poll of the 2013 season. Butler has been ranked in the preseason national poll each year since 1998. The last time Butler was ranked lower than 10th in the preseason was in 2002 when they were slotted 17th.
The Grizzlies will face two of the top teams in the nation in the first three weeks of the season. After starting with a home game against Independence on Thursday, Aug. 28, Butler will play on the road at No. 2 Iowa Western on Saturday, Sept. 6. The Grizzlies then return home to face No. 11 Hutchinson on Saturday, Sept. 13.
