Sims named NJCAA Football All-American

For the 34th consecutive season, the Butler Grizzlies have a football All-American.

Freshman wide receiver and kick returner C.J. Sims was named an honorable mention All-American by the NJCAA following the season.

This is the 31st consecutive season in which the Grizzlies have had a player earn NJCAA All-American status. Butler has now had 72 players earn NJCAA All-American honors since the 2000 season. That is an average of more than four per season for the Grizzlies, who have a record of 146-19 and three national titles in that time span.

Sims is from Covington, La. He led Butler with 51 receptions for 802 yards, with four touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown. He also had 748 yards of kick returns, averaging 26 yards per kickoff return.

Butler finished the season with a 7-5 record, playing in the Salt City Bowl and finishing No. 17 in the final national poll. It is the 18th-consecutive year for Butler to finish ranked in the national polls.
