Wichita Native Carson Arndt named National Special Teams Player of the Week

For the second week in a row, the Butler Football team gets a player voted in as National Special Teams Player of the Week.

Carson Arndt, the Wichita Northwest graduate, was voted as this week's National Special Teams Player of the Week after burying a career long 50-yard field goal Saturday night on the road at Independence. Last week's award winner was another Wichita native in AJ King and week one was yet another Wichita native as Norman Massey was recognized as Defensive Player of the Week back in week one.

"It is really cool to see our guys get this recognition," said head coach Brice Vignery. "Not everyone gets to see how much work they put in to be in these positions and it makes me happy to know their efforts are being noticed on a national scale."

Arndt, a 5-11, 165-pound sophomore kicker for the Grizzlies, was a perfect 3-3 on extra points and hit two field goals on the night in the 27-11 win over No. 15 Independence. A 38-yarder into the wind and a 50-yard field goal, a new career long, in the fourth quarter with wind at his back that would have been good from 60.

This marks the third Grizzly this season to be recognized nationally as a National Player of the Week.
