Grizzlies move up two spots after wild week of games in the NJCAA Top-10

The Butler football team defeated non-conference opponent McDougle Technical Institute, an up-and-coming prep school that is working their way into the NJCAA, 77-14 on Saturday and was able to move up two slots in this week's NJCAA Football National Poll.

It wasn't so much the Butler win that helped them move up the polls, but the wild week of games with teams that were ranked above the Grizzlies that made the difference.

New Mexico Military, defending National Champions, dropped their first game of the season to unranked Tyler (TX) and dropped to No. 5 in the country. Hutchinson beat Dodge City and moved to No. 1 in the nation after being No. 2 for most of the season. Iowa Western picked up a huge win over Snow College sliding the Reivers into the No. 2 spot and dropping Snow behind the Grizzlies at No. 9 this week. Coffeyville beat Iowa Central 47-30 which also dropped the Tritons behind the Grizzlies to No. 10 as the Red Ravens move up three spots to No. 12 this week.

The Grizzlies have quite the slate of games ahead of them with three straight weeks of Top-12 teams. Butler will face the No. 10 Iowa Central Tritons this week in El Dorado for yet another Top-10 matchup for Butler, their third time to play a Top-10 team this season, and fourth opponent this season ranked in the Top-15 in the country.

In two weeks' time, Butler will travel to Council Bluffs, IA to face the No. 2 Reivers who are on a bye this week giving them an extra week of prep for before the Grizzlies come to town. Butler will then return home for a matchup with longtime rival No. 12-ranked Coffeyville.
