Butler hits century mark in 104-39 win over KSU-Salina

EL DORADO, Kan. – The Butler men rolled up triple digits in their season opening win on Tuesday, beating KSU-Salina by a score of 104-39 at the Power Plant.

Butler scored the first 22 points of the game and quickly stretched its lead to 30 at 36-6 midway through the first half. The Grizzlies would go into half leading by 41 at 59-18. Butler reached the century mark on a free throw by Eric Clark with two minutes to go in the game, finishing with 104 in the 65-point victory.

It is Butler's first 100-point game since March 2, 2010, when the Grizzlies beat Labette 105-69 in a Region VI playoff game in the Power Plant.

Butler got balanced scoring in the big win. Freshman Sean Osler led the way with 17 points, while Justin Simmons had 15 points, Lane Lindhorst had 12 and Toles Hartman scored 11.

The Grizzlies are 1-0 on the season with a home game against Independence on Thursday. Butler was 1-2 against the Pirates last year, winning at home and losing on the road in the regular season and dropping narrow decision on the road in the Region VI playoffs in March.
