Grizzlies struggle in 74-56 loss at Dodge City

DODGE CITY, Kan. – The Butler men finished with its lowest scoring point of the season, which resulted in having a five-game winning streak snapped in a 74-56 loss at Dodge City on Saturday.

Butler shot a season-low 39.7 percent (23-of-58) from the field and made just 1-of-18 from beyond the perimeter. The Grizzlies, who trailed by as many as 26 points in the contest, were led in scoring by Larry Fitzgerald with 13 points. Sean Goodwin added 12 points in the loss.

Dodge jumped out to a 9-2 advantage at the beginning of the game, but the Grizzlies rallied to take their only lead on the evening with an 8-0 run. The Conquistadors led 30-20 at halftime, then built a 66-40 lead late in the second half.

Larry Beckett led all scorers with 19 points and nine rebounds for Dodge City (9-1), who had four players score in double figures.

Butler (7-2 overall) will travel to Salina to face Brown Mackie College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Grizzlies return home after the Thanksgiving break on Monday, Dec. 2 when they host Johnson County.
