Butler men handle undefeated Labette in 102-59 road win

PARSONS, Kan. – The Butler men rolled over a previously undefeated Labette squad 102-59 to earn its second road win in three days. 

The Grizzlies fell behind 3-1 early on but went on a 10-0 run keyed by back-to-back slam dunks by Lamar Wofford to take an 11-3 lead. Labette was still within six points before an 8-0 Butler run made it a 27-13 game midway through the first half.

A 3-pointer by Caelan Neal pushed the lead to 21 points at 42-21 and the Grizzlies would lead by 27 at intermission (52-25). Butler's lead would grow to more than 40 points when the Grizzlies went up 88-47 with 6:31 to play. 

Lamar Wofford had a career-high 22 points and also pulled in eight rebounds for Butler, while Kyle Steward scored 17 points and Caelan Neal had 15 points and seven rebounds for Butler. All 12 Butler players in uniform scored at least two points in the game. Butler shot 48 percent from the floor and outrebounded Labette 66-22. In fact, Butler had more offensive rebounds (27) than Labette had total boards.

The Grizzlies are now 3-0 on the season and will return home for a 7 p.m. Friday night tipoff against Kansas State-Salina. Labette, which had won at No. 22 Hutchinson this weekend, is now 2-1 on the season.
