Butler men roll past Labette to stay undefeated at 9-0

The Butler men stayed undefeated on the season with a 78-54 win over visiting Labette on Tuesday, pulling away in the second half on the strength of its 3-point shooting.

Labette scored first but the Grizzlies went on an 18-0 run that included three 3-pointers by Jacolby Harris. Butler led 20-3 after a layup by Chris Howell with 11:12 to play in the half.

Labette regouped, however, getting within four points before Kyle Steward hit two free throws with 43 seconds left to make it a 30-24 game at the half.

Butler led 35-30 in the second half before Chris Howell and Derrick Byrd scored back-to-back buckets to make it 39-30 with 15:18 to play.

Later in the half, Butler would get three straight 3-pointers – one from Jacolby Harris and two from Travis House, pushing the lead to 64-42 with 7:24 to go and Labette would not threaten further.

Harris, who hit four 3's in the game, led all scorers with 23 points. House also his four 3-pointers and had 12 points. Caelan Neal had 11 points and Chris Howell added 10 for Butler. Tevin Foster led Labette with 22 points.

Butler is now 9-0 on the season and is off for the Thanksgiving weekend before playing at home on Monday against Friends JV.
