#11 Butler remains perfect with 102-66 win over Cowley

The Butler men remained perfect on the season with a dominating 102-66 home win over Cowley at the Power Plant on Saturday.

The 11th-ranked Grizzlies (12-0), who never trailed in the contest, had five players score in double figures and shot 63 percent (42-of-67) from the field. Butler controlled Cowley in the paint, winning the rebound category 38-20 and scoring 70 of its 102 points in the lane.

Lamar Wofford finished with a game-high 20 points on 10-of-13 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds. Jacolby Harris added 19 points, while Damien Akao scored 14. Caelan Neal and Travis House each scored 10 in the victory. Soufiyane Diakite had 16 points to lead Cowley (1-10), who have lost seven in a row.

Butler jumped out to an 8-0 lead to start the game, then added a 13-0 run later in the first half to take a 43-18 lead over the Tigers with 5:08 remaining before halftime. Wofford and Harris, who scored a pair of field goals during the 13-0 run, combined to shoot 9-of-11 from the field in the half. The duo scored 10 points each in the opening half, as the Grizzlies took a 50-28 lead over Cowley at the break.

Back-to-back baskets by Wofford put Butler up 60-30 with 17:57 remaining the contest. Just three minutes later, Kennedy Sullivan had a dunk and Travis House followed with a three-pointer from the far corner to give the Grizzlies a 69-36 lead. After House's trey, Butler kept the margin over 30 points over Cowley.

Damien Akao's layup through two Cowley defenders at the 1:17 mark put the Grizzlies at the 100-point mark. Butler has scored 100 or more points in four games this season.

The Grizzlies will next play Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa on Friday, Dec. 12 at the Cowley Classic. Tipoff from Arkansas City is at 5 p.m.
