Butler falls on the road at Dodge City, 74-66

DODGE CITY, Kan. – The Butler men led by as many as eight in the first half at Dodge City, but couldn't hold on in the second half, falling 74-66 on Wednesday at the Civic Center.

Butler would lead 19-17 in the first half before getting six straight points from Rashawn Chapman, pushing the lead to 25-17 with nine minutes left in the period. Dodge City would answer with a 9-0 run to take the lead.

Butler would get a long 3-pointer from Derrick Byrd at the halftime buzzer to tie the game 37-37.

Daven Joseph scored the first four points of the second half as Butler jumped out to a 41-37 lead but Dodge City would slowly build its lead, going up by as many as 13 points down the stretch.

Daven Joseph led Butler with 14 points while Rashawn Chapman scored 10 points for the Grizzlies. Dodge City's Josh Boutte led all scorers with 20 points.

Butler falls to 10-7 on the season and is 2-4 in Jayhawk Conference play. The Grizzlies host No. 1-ranked Hutchinson at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Power Plant.
