Hardy drops 30 as Butler men rout Tabor College JV 121-65

TOWANDA, Kan. - Grizzly freshman LaJuan Hardy scored a game-high 30 points and hit 7-of-8 from behind the arc as Butler cruised to a 121-65 win over Tabor College JV on Tuesday at the Circle High School gymnasium.

Hardy hit five second-half treys for the Grizzlies (3-0), who hit 11-of-17 three-pointers in the final 20 minutes.

Butler finished with six players in double digits, with Will Adler scoring 17 behind Hardy's 30. LaDarrian Burney finished with a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Karlon McSpadden added 13, while Caleb Moore and Johnnathan Lindsey scored 12 and 10, respectively.

Tabor held an 11-10 lead early in the first half and was within one point, 20-19, with 10 minutes before halftime. However, Butler would go on a 25-4 run to build a 45-23 lead.

Butler quickly pushed the margin to 50 by the 12:04 mark of the second half. Hardy hit three straight treys to give the Grizzlies their largest lead at 59 points, 108-49, with 8:14 remaining in the game.

As a team, Butler connected on 16-of-29 three-pointers (55 percent) and finished an even 60 percent (48-of-80) from the field. The Grizzlies held Tabor to just 36 percent (21-of-58) shooting and outrebounded the Bluejays 47-26.

Butler will open Jayhawk Conference play this Saturday with a 8:00 p.m. road game at Garden City. The Grizzlies will then return home for their first game at the Power Plant this season on Wednesday, Nov. 16 against Seward County.
