Butler men suffer 93-82 overtime loss at Cloud County

CONCORDIA, Kan. - The Butler men never trailed in the second half at Cloud County on Sunday, but overtime was unkind to the Grizzlies in a 93-82 loss to the Thunderbirds.

Butler led for 36 of the first 40 minutes, but missed the front end of two one-and-one opportunities at the free throw line late in the game.

That opened the door for Cloud and the Thunderbirds got fouled on a 3-point attempt with 8.9 seconds to go. Cloud made all three free throws, eventually pushing the game into overtime.

Cloud controlled the extra five minutes, out scoring Butler 16-5 to take the win.

Butler had led by as many as 13 points in the first half before Cloud stormed back to tie the game 34-34 at the break. Butler then led by 10 points with 10 minutes to go in the game.

Butler still led 77-74 before the late foul that allowed Cloud to tie the game.

Jacolby Harris led Butler with 24 points. Ketarrious Bouchum and Johnnathan Lindsey had 15 points apiece while LaJuan Hardy added 10.

Butler falls to 7-5 overall and 4-5 in Jayhawk Conference play with two straight losses. The Grizzlies will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 4 with a home game against Pratt.
