Butler men snap six-game losing streak with win over Coffeyville

The February funk is over for the Butler men's basketball team. The Grizzlies, who had lost all six games this month coming into Wednesday's game against Coffeyville, put an emphatic end to the losing streak in a 90-73 victory over the Red Ravens.

Coffeyville scored first on a 3-pointer, but Butler would build a 16-7 lead after back-to-back dunks by Ketarrious Bouchum and Johnnathan Lindsey with 14:47 left in the first half.

Butler pushed the lead to double digits for the first time after a LaJuan Hardy layup made it 24-14 with 9:04 left in the half.

The Grizzlies led by as many as 15 in the first half and were up 44-33 at the break.

In the second half, Butler pushed the lead past 20 with a 6-0 run that made it a 63-42 game with 13:43 to go. The Grizzlies would lead by as many as 23 and cruised from that point.

Butler was led by Ketarrious Bouchum and Johnnathan Lindsey who had 19 points apiece. Lindsey had yet another double-double with a game-high 16 rebounds. Will Adler added 14 and LaJuan Hardy scored 11.

The Grizzlies improve to 15-12 on the season and even their Jayhawk Conference record at 12-12. Butler will be on the road Saturday at Neosho before returning home on Monday to take on Colby in the final game of the regular season.
