The Butler men turned in their best shooting performance of the season in conference play, helping them cruise to a 92-67 win at Pratt on Wednesday the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena.
Butler made 31 of its 60 shots, good for 51.7 percent from the floor. That beats out a 30-49 effort against Colby on Dec. 1 for best in a Jayhawk Conference game this season. It's the second-best overall shooting performance of the year, second only to a 37-62 effort (59.7 percent) against Friends JV on Nov. 5.
The Grizzlies also shot 40 percent from 3-point range (6-15) and were 66.7 percent from the free throw line (24-36).
The hot shooting from the floor helped Butler race out to a 7-1 lead in the first two minutes of the contest. The Grizzlies were up 27-16 with 8:48 left in the first half and then went on another run, stretching the lead to 41-21 with 5:40 left in the half.
Butler led 51-26 at the half. The Grizzlies led by as many as 32 in the game, going ahead 83-51 with 5:15 remaining.
Juwan White led the way for Butler, scoring 22 points with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. He was 13-13 at the free throw line. Immanuel Allen added 19 points on an efficient shooting effort (7-9) along with five free throws. Kamron Brice scored 16 points – his third straight game of 16 or more. He has averaged better than 19 points per game in those three contests. Jon'il Fugett scored 12 for Butler. Tyrone Coley was the team's leading rebounder with nine.
Butler is now 10-6 on the season and 3-4 in Jayhawk Conference play. The Grizzlies return to the Power Plant for their first home game in a month when they take on Garden City at 3 p.m on Saturday.
