Grizzlies win two games at McDonald's Classic in Missouri

The Butler Grizzlies continued a strong start to the season, earning a pair of victories in Sedalia, Missouri at the Mcdonalds Classic this weekend, hosted by State Fair Community College. The Grizzlies dispatched Labette County, 60-47 on Friday before finishing the weekend with a 67-54 victory against the host Roadrunners on Saturday.

Game One:

The Grizzlies jumped out to a huge lead against the Cardinals and never looked back, jumping out to a 30-15 halftime lead. The Grizzlies cruised the rest of the way, securing the first win of the weekend in a dominant victory. Rob Brown led the way with 15 points in the victory. Isaac Ondekane finished with a near double-double with 10 points and nine boards.

Game Two:

The Grizzlies cemented a perfect weekend with the victory over the Road Runners, opening up what was a tight affair in the first half with a decisive second half performance. The two teams were deadlocked at 34 after the first twenty minutes, but the Grizzlies outscored State Fair 33-20 in the second half to cement the victory.

The Grizzlies were led in game two by Niagra University transfer Rob Brown, who finished with 18 points to lead all scorers. Brown was nearly perfect from the field, making eight of his nine shots including two of his three shots from deep. Treylon Payne and Isaiah Williams were next in line for the Grizzlies as they both finished with 12 points. 

The Grizzlies were an impressive 58 percent from the field, and the Grizzlies were scalding all night from three point range, cashing in on eight of their 11 attempts. Butler held the Roadrunners to just 42 percent from the field. Payne led the Grizzlies in rebounds,  finishing with six boards. Javon Grant and Tahjae Hill led the team in assists, each with two.

Next up for the Grizzlies is a weekday matchup at the Power Plant as they welcome the Kansas City Kansas Blue Devils to El Dorado on Wednesday night.
