Tahjae Hill earns player of the week honors

Story by Wyatt Ebersole

Tahjae Hill's big week in the Grizzlies two wins over #11 Coffeyville and #RV Hutchinson last week has earned him Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week Honors.

Hill, the Grizzlies 6'4 freshman guard from Hilton, New York, was huge for the Grizzlies in their two wins this past week. Hill's big performance of the week came on Wednesday against the 11th ranked Coffeyville Red Ravens where he put in a season high 20-points while pulling in six rebounds. Things were looking bleak early in the game for the Grizzlies as they found themselves down 18-32 at the halftime break to a top-15 in the country, but the Grizzlies, led by Hill's big evening, stormed back into the game, eventually taking a late lead that they wouldn't relinquish on their way to a 70-64 victory. Making his first start of the season against Hutchinson on Saturday, Hill took a step back from the scoring action and was more effective on the defensive end. Hill still put in a respectable 10 points which was third among all Grizzlies and Hill had four steals in the game, which were his most in a game this season. Hill also had a big night on the glass as he pulled in eight rebounds which is his most in a game this season. Hill has been a big piece for the Grizzlies who have now won four straight games to improve to 10-2 on the year and now 4-2 in conference play.

This is the first Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week selection for the Butler Men's Basketball Team this season and is Tahjae's first selection of his Grizzly career. Hill is the second Grizzly Basketball player to be selected this season joining Freddie Wallace of the women's team who was selected last week.
