Fisher Steps Down as Butler Men’s Basketball Head Coach

EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler Community College men's basketball head coach Kyle Fisher announced his resignation on Monday.

Fisher was hired at Butler in April of 2019, recently completing his fifth season in El Dorado. His five-year overall record was 113-42 (.729) including 78-34 (.696) in the KJCCC and 64-12 (.864) at home in the Power Plant.

Fisher led Butler to its first NJCAA National Tournament appearance since 2015 in the 2022-23 season as the Grizzlies finished 26-9, earning a win over Roane State in the first round of the national tournament.

Butler also captured its first Region VI title since 2010 in the 2022-23 season. Under Fisher, Butler reached the Region VI semifinals or better in four of five seasons as well as winning 20-plus games in four of five seasons. He coached 16 student-athletes to all-conference honors and saw 22 players sign with four-year universities to continue their basketball and academic careers.

Butler was Fisher's first head coaching position as he previously spent seven years under hall of fame coach Jay Herkelman at Coffeyville as an assistant coach.

A search to find Fisher's successor will begin immediately.
