LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Butler indoor track and field team qualified for nationals in two events at the Jayhawk Classic inside Anschutz Pavilion on Friday.
Sophomore Alfred Larry, who already qualified earlier this season in the men's 400-meter dash, won the 600-meter run with a national qualifying time of 1:15.24. It was Larry's first time running the event this season.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Steven Calloway, Shaquille Alleyne, Justin Breaux and Larry also qualified for the national meet. The quartet ran a 3:20.72, which was the fourth fastest time at the event.
With the two new additions, Butler has now qualified for nationals in four events - Larry (400m dash, 600m dash), Calloway (400m dash) and the men's 4x400m relay.
Other top 10 finishes at the Classic included Alleyne in the 400-meter dash, as he took 10th with a time of 51 seconds.
On the women's side, the distance medley relay team of Lindi Young, Terra Flores, Tricia Trupe and Kendell Notah finished ninth.
Butler will compete in the Varsity Apartments Invitational at Wichita State University this weekend, beginning Friday.
