Mountain Oyster Feed raises record $36,000

The 11th Annual GrizzlyBacker Mountain Oyster Feed was the most successful in the history of the event so far.

Approximately over $36,000 was raised in support of Butler Athletics on Friday, March 28 at the Butler County Community Building in downtown El Dorado. There were 31 corporate sponsors and more than 500 tickets sold, both of which set event records.

"We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event so successful," Butler Athletic Director Todd Carter said. "We know this is an event that many people look forward to attending each spring and the support we receive from the community really does make a positive impact on Butler athletics."

The event featured an all-you-can eat buffet of mountain oysters, fried catfish and other side items. More than 750 pounds of mountain oysters and nearly 200 pounds of catfish were eaten.

There was also a silent auction, which featured items including a Las Vegas stay and a workday by the women's soccer team.

Gold sponsors were Albert Hogoboom, Dr. Larry Abraham, Ramon Criss, Ted Dankert, John Banks, B & H Contractors, Butler REC/Regional Energy Group, CDH Incorporated, Clean Harbors, C-Tech Industrial Group, Inc., Catspec, LTD, Drisco, El Dorado Livestock Auction, Elite Turnaround Specialists, Energy Services, Inc., Cust-O-Fab, Savage Services, Tire Centers, Inc., Sharp Construction, and Vintage Bank Kansas.
