Butler men score pair of seventh-place finishes at NJCAA Outdoor

The Butler men had a pair of seventh-place finishes during the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, which was held at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

Grizzly freshman Tavarius Wright had the top individual performance by placing seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.40 seconds.

Wright, Kyandre Lyons, Jameel Austin and Steven Simmons made up the 4x100-meter relay team, which also took seventh by crossing the finish line at 41.89 seconds.

Sophomore Lewis Cain finished eighth in the men's decathlon with 5,735 points. Cain's best performance came in the discus, as he had the third-best throw of 32.32 meters (106'-0"). He also finished fifth in the long jump (6.58m / 21'-7 14") and pole vault (3.60m / 11'-9 3/4") events of the decathlon.

Butler sophomore Nick Nece placed eighth in the javelin, with a top throw of 55.82 meters (183'-2").

Freshman Michael Tolds finished in an eighth-place tie in the high jump, clearing 2.03 meters (6'-8").

Butler scored 6.5 points as a team, finishing 25th overall at the meet.
