Grizzlies have a Strong Weekend at Friends University Invitational

It was a successful trip to downtown Wichita and Friends University for the Butler Grizzlies in their second outdoor track meet of the year in the Friends University Spring Invite.

The highlight of the day for the Grizzlies was the 100 meter dash and Shawn Brown, who took home the victory. Brown finished with a time of 10.04, which is the fourth fastest time in the world this year. In addition, Grizzly runners also claimed second and third in the race. Nazzio John finished second with a time of 10.20, while Javari Thomas claimed third with a time of 10.35. La'Danian Hendrix rounded out the top 10, with a time of 10.50.

The Grizzlies also claimed victory in the 4x100 meter relay, as the team of Brown, John, Eddy Vu and Javari Thomas won the relay for the second consecutive time after their win in Emporia last week. The team finished with a time of 40.61. 

Elsewhere, Khloi Bird finished eighth in the 1500 meter run, with a time of 5:06.40, and on the men's side, Adem Bouldjadj finished sixth, with a time of 3:58.77. And Joda Campbell finished second in the 100 meter hurdle, coming in at 14.31.

Wail Bourahli found the victory in the 800 meter run, winning the race with a time of 1:51.25, and Tashira Edwards took home first in the 400 meter hurdles, with a time of 1:06.04. Vionce Olivares took fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.38.

Trishanie Warner placed second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.26.

Next up for the Grizzlies will be a trip to Wichita State next Saturday for the KT Woodman Classic.
