Grizzlies Compete at 100th Anniversary Kansas Relays

Despite the three-day meet in Lawrence, Kansas being interrupted by thunderstorms on two separate days, several Grizzlies still found success, at the Kansas Relays.

On Thursday Andrew Leck took the gold medal in the Men's 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.70. Also taking gold was Wail Bourahli in the Men's 1500 meter run, coming in at 3:58.34. Adem Bouldjadj took eighth place in the Men's 5000 meter run with a time of 14:59.35.

Friday was cut short due to a storm and the final events of the day were moved to Saturday. However, even in the shortened day Butler had several standouts that qualified for finals that would take place Saturday.

On Saturday, the Men's 4x100 meter relay team of Shawn Brown, Andre Morrison, Nazzio John, and Javari Thomas took home the silver medal with a time of 40.81. Grizzlies claimed first, second and fifth place in the Men's 100 meter dash. Shawn Brown finished in first with a time of 10.28, Nazzio John followed in second with a time of 10.32, and Javari Thomas came in fifth place with a time of 11.54. Wail Bourahli medaled again in the Men's 800 meter run coming in third place with a time of 1:51.36, followed by Zach Trotter in sixth with a time of 1:53.30. Kadine Brown rounded things out in the Women's discus throw with a seventh place finish 

The final few events of the 100th anniversary KU relays were not completed due to a quickly onset thunderstorm.

The Butler Track & Field team will head to the University of Oklahoma for the John Jacobs invitational Friday and Saturday.
