Lee wins 60m Hurdles Championship, Grizzlies Finish 4th at Region VI Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Butler men's track and field team competed at the Region VI Indoor Championships on Saturday and Sunday, placing fourth in the region event hosted at Pittsburg State's Robert W. Plaster Center.

The Grizzly men came in fourth behind Cloud County in first, Barton in second and Fort Scott in third. They placed one spot ahead of Hutchinson.

Nasia Lee was the region champion in the men's 60m hurdles, running it in 8.02 seconds.

The men's 4000m distance medley relay (Bhekizulu Thumalo, Bennett Feldenkirchen, Abdelhakim Boukhiar and Adem Bouldjadj) were the region champions, running it in 10:04.73.

Butler's 4x800m relay came in second (7:50.78).

Jonathan Farinha impressed for the Grizzlies, placing second in the 400m (47.50) as well as the 200m (21.29). He was just .29 seconds away from first in the 200m and .07 away from first in the 400m.

Andre Morrison nearly won the 60m title, placing second as he was .006 behind Ezekiel Seamster from Hutch. Eddy Vu was right behind in third for the Grizzlies.

Boukhiar (1:19.98) and Feldenkirchen (1:20.34) finished second and third in the men's 600m.

Butler's 4x400m relay (Vu, Devian King, Michael Thomas, Farinha) finished fourth, .21 away from third.

Braylon Buchanan came away with a fourth-place mark in the high jump, clearing 1.99m.

Butler now has its sights set on the NJCAA Indoor National Championships to wrap up the indoor season, hosted by the University of Florida on March 1st and 2nd.
