Butler Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at UNT’s Bill Schmidt Invite

DENTON, Texas – The Butler track and field team opened its outdoor season at the University of North Texas' Bill Schmidt Invite on Friday and Saturday.

A majority of Saturday's events were canceled due to rain.

The men's 100m was big for Butler as they came away with three national qualifiers in the event. Jonathan Farinha took first in the event, running 10.38. He was followed by Eddy Vu who ran 10.52. Andre Morrison ran 11.06 in the prelims to round out the national qualifying performances in the men's 100. Devian King placed fifth in the finals, running 10.79.

Khloi Bird qualified for nationals in the women's 1500m, placing third in the 1500m (4:54.43).

Abdelhakim Boukhiar finished 5th in the 800m (1:54.55). Soualah Yasser finished 6th (1:55.37).

The Grizzlies return to action on March 28th at the Emporia State Relays.
