Butler sends partial teams to Wichita State meet

The Butler cross country teams sent partial squads to the J.K. Gold Classic hosted by Wichita State University on Saturday at RAFT Ranch outside of nearby Augusta.

Butler had two women run at the meet. Freshman Abiane Collymore finished 49th in a time of 17:01 for the four kilometer race. Sophomore Adrian McCollum finished 77th in a time of 18:38.

Sophomore Taylor Parker, who originally came to Butler as a sprinter for the track team, led the Butler men with a 74th place finish, covering the six kilometer course in 21:12. Fi

 "Taylor, competing in only his second cross country race ever, had a great run," said coach Jeff Becker. "He has been a great surprise for us this year. He works hard and wants to win."

Fidel Munoz was 85th in 22:02, Dale Nuckolls was 88th in 22:10, Adam Kelsey was 116th in 23:41 and Carlos Galindo was 120th in 24:30.

The Next action for Butler will be Sept. 7 when the Grizzlies compete in the Colby Community College Invitational.
