Butler men finish 11th at NJCAA National XC Meet

FORT DODGE, Iowa - The Butler men's cross country squad finished the 2015 season with an 11th place finish at the NJCAA National Championships Saturday at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.

The Grizzlies had the second-best finish among KJCCC teams with 349 total points. Region VI champion Allen County scored 159 points and placed sixth in the team standings. Host Iowa Central won the event with 56 points, while Central Arizona edged South Plains (TX) for runner-up by just a two-point differential (86 to 88).

Freshman Jacob Hesse was the top Grizzly runner, ending the 8K race with a strong finish to place 39th overall with a time of 26:32.72. Sophomore Luke Johnston followed Hesse with a 27:06.92 time and took 57th.

Brian Gonzalez (76th, 27:22.81), Clayton Fletcher (90th, 27:46.51), Nolan Hesse (105th, 28:04.99) and Ismael Ramirez (190th, 29:53.14) also competed for Butler in the overall team standings.
