Koech places fourth, Butler men take fourth at OBU Invite

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Butler sophomore Eliud Koech placed fourth at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational men's 8K on Saturday, while the Grizzlies finished fourth overall.

Koech ran the course in a 26:37.81 time to score third in the point standings for Butler, who finished with 76 total points. Host Oklahoma Baptist won the event with 30 points, while East Central (OK) was runner-up with 57 points. Dallas Baptist edged the Grizzlies for third place with 75 points.

Following Koech's fourth-place finish was Derrick Reid (28:09.22), who took 18th overall individually. Sophomore Boniface Kiptoo placed 21st with a time of 28:13.88, while sophomores Emmanuel Biwott (28:36.69) and Hillary Kiptoo (28:44.81) placed 26th and 27th, respectively.

Also running for Butler were Timothy Kemboi (29:20.84, 33rd) and Bret Brock (30:19.50, 41st).

Next up for Butler will be the Ollie Isom Invitational on Monday, Oct. 16 at Wartick Ranch. The Grizzlies' home meet gets underway with the women's 5K at 4:00 p.m., then the men's 8K will folllow at 4:45 p.m.
