Butler men place two in top 10 at Isom XC Invitational

Sophomored Eliud Koech and Boniface Kiptoo had top-10 finishes for the Butler men's cross country team, who placed fourth overall at the Ollie Isom Invitational on Monday at Wartick Farm.

Koech took fourth individually as he finished the 8K course with a time of 26:04.46, while Kiptoo was eighth at 26:52.11.

With four of its top five runners placing in the top 20, Butler scored 70 points. Cloud County took home top honors with 32 points, while Cowley finished with 60 points to take second. Bacone (Okla.) was third with 64 points.

In addition to Koech and Kiptoo, Emmanuel Biwott (27:15.02, 13th), Timothy Kemboi (27:50.74, 20th) and Hillary Kiptoo (28:06.24, 25th) also scored for the Grizzlies.

Other Grizzly runners were Bret Brock (28:36.11, 34th), Terrance Mayes (32:24.27, 69th) and Madison Edwards (32:29.21, 70th).

Butler will next compete in the Region VI Championships in Garden City, which will be held on Monday, Oct. 30.
