Rodgers and Bird finish first at the Missouri Southern Stampede

Starting what would prove to be a dominant day for Butler sports, the Butler Cross Country team made a successful trip to Joplin, Missouri and the campus of Missouri Souther State University at the 2022 Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday.

Coming off a week that saw him earn National Athlete of the week honors, Rodgers Rotich was impressive again, winning the Men's 8K in Joplin, finishing with a time of 23:51.2, winning a race for the second straight meet. Victor Jumo also placed in the top 10, coming in at eighth.

Not to be outdone on the women's side was Khloi Bird, as she placed first in the women's 5k race, finishing with a time of 18:30.80, finishing 17 seconds ahead of her next opponent.

The Grizzlies finished third in the men's 8K run, finishing with a score of 123, while the women's 5k team placed fifth with a score of 119, good enough for the highest place by a junior college team at the meet.

Next up for Butler will be the Chile Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas on September 30th.
