Wolken becomes fifth Grizzly to commit to D-I program

Butler sophomore Kaitlyn Wolken became the fifth current Grizzly softball player to commit to a Division I program for next season, as she will play at Indiana State University once her Butler career is completed.

In 57 games during the 2012 season, Wolken hit .301 with three home runs and 25 runs batted in. She also scored 33 runs and had five stolen bases in six attempts. Wolken played 55 games at third base as she helped the Grizzlies to a second straight NJCAA Division I national tournament appearance.

The other current Butler players who have already committed to NCAA Division 1 programs nclude pitcher Maggie Ham (Oklahoma), pitcher/outfielder Kelsey Berlin (Arkansas), pitcher Mac Millspaugh (Creighton) and catcher Alex Millspaugh (Creighton). They are among 15 Butler players who have committed to NCAA Division I programs over the past three seasons.

Butler will open its season on Feb. 8, 2013 at the Cowtown Classic in Temple, Texas. The Grizzlies will be looking to defend back-to-back Jayhawk Conference and Region VI championships. Butler has won six conference titles since 2001, including five of the past seven years.
