Butler holds No. 1 spot for second straight week

Butler softball held down the top spot in the NJCAA Division I polls for the second consecutive week, which was released Wednesday.

The Grizzlies (14-3 overall, 2-0 conference) received all four first-place votes, while the top five remained unchanged from the previous week. Following Butler was Indian River (Fla.), Southern Nevada, McLennan (Texas), and Arizona Western.

Butler, who did not play last week, will travel to Pratt on Thursday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader. The Grizzlies will then host conference foe Barton on Sunday in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

Butler was scheduled to face Barton on Wednesday, but the contest was postponed to Sunday due to weather. Sunday's contest will be the home opener for the Grizzlies, who are 3-1 against ranked teams - two wins against then-No. 7 Galveston and one win against then-No. 13 Navarro.

The Grizzlies are the only KJCCC team to be ranked in the poll, as Seward County  - previously ranked ninth - dropped out.
