Grizzlies extend winning streak to thirteen games with double header sweep over Hutchinson Friday

The Butler Softball team (17-2, 6-0) won their 13th straight game and remained perfect in KJCCC play with the double header sweep of Hutchinson on Friday afternoon on the road in Fun Valley.

Fun Valley didn't hold true to its name, at least for the Blue Dragons as the Grizzlies run-ruled them in both games winning 11-2 and 9-0, both in five-innings.

Game one featured 3-4 outings from the Grizzlies first three batters in Madi Young, Shayna Espy and Emily Adler. The accounted for six of the Grizzlies 10 RBI's and four of their 11 runs scored. Emily Adler led the team with four RBI's. All three of Espy's hits were triples, giving her a team leading five on the season. Izzy Erickson improved to 10-1, winning her eight straight outing throwing four innings giving up two runs off of two hits. She walked two and struck out five. Hannah Knox threw a great fifth inning retiring all three batters faced striking out two.

The Grizzlies scored three runs in the first inning and plated six in the third to take a 9-0 lead. They added a run in the fourth and fifth and gave up just two in the bottom of the fourth to the Blue Dragons taking game one 11-2.

Game two Butler scored a run in each of their five innings played. Again, the top of the Grizzlies lineup took care of business as Young, Espy and Adler were a combined 7-11 with five RBI's and seven runs scored. Madi Young had a double and stole two bags while Shayna Espy also finished with two stolen bases. Hannah Knox had the lone homerun of the double header and it was a solo shot to left field in the top of the third inning.

Maddie Redman notched win number five on her season pitching a complete game giving up just two hits. She had no walks and struck out two in her 19 batters faced.
