Undefeated Hutchinson pulls away from Butler in second half

The Butler women battled the nation's second-ranked team for a half before Hutchinson pulled away for a 70-43 win at the Power Plant on Saturday.

The Grizzlies had one lead, that coming at 7-6 after a Christy Couey layup early in the first half. Hutchinson would build a 10-point lead midway through the first half, but the Grizzlies would chip away at that lead, eventually closing the gap to just three points at 25-22 at halftime.

The second half belonged to Hutchinson as the Blue Dragons built the lead to over 30 points before winning by 27.

Jamillah Bonner again led all scorers with 20 points. She was the only Grizzly in double figures. Alyssa Barlow led Hutchinson with 17 points.

Butler falls to 14-10 on the season, 3-7 in the Jayhawk West Conference. Hutchinson stays undefeated at 24-0 and 11-0 in conference play.

Butler takes to the road this Wednesday for a road game at Barton County.
